Why
does EQS not run on Windows Vista?
There
is one additional step to make EQS compatible with Windows Vista. First
of all, you must have admin privilege to run EQS on Vista although you don't
need to login to the administrator's account. Here is the procedure
1. Right
click on EQS 6.1 for Windows icon on your desktop.
2. Choose Properties from the pull down menu
bar.
3. Click on Compatibility tab and check on
"Run this program as an administrator" at the bottom.
4. Click
the OK button to activate the change.

Starting
with Windows Vista, the Windows Help program is no longer included as a
feature of Windows. Unfortunately, EQS 6.1 for Windows uses this help program
to access its help file. Here are the procedures
of how to download and install Windows Help program from Microsoft Download
Center.
1) Go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspxfamilyid=6EBCFAD9-D3F5-4365-8070-334CD175D4BB&displaylang=en
You will be given a web page titled “Windows Help Program (WinHlp32.exe) for
Windows Vista”. Click the
<CONTINUE> button to validate the authenticity of your Windows.
2)
(Optional) An Install verification
dialog box will appear to ask for your permission to install the Genuine
Windows Validation Component. Click on
the Install button.
3)
At the bottom of the page, you will
see two download buttons. Click on the
button with “Windows6.0-KB917607-x86.msu”.
4)
The program will download and you have to
install it. Once the installation is complete, you will be able to read
the Help files in EQS.

EQS software can be installed on a LINUX operating systems running on Intel
processor. Items come with a LINUX license include a text-based EQS

NETWORK LICENSE FOR EQS
EQS can be installed on Windows NT or Novell networks, or any other
comparable network. However EQS is licensed to the USER, not the
terminal and may only be used by the licensed user
at the licensed site. A network or multi-user license is necessary for
installation of EQS on a network. Please contact Multivariate Software
for more details.
EQS
for computer lab license includes EQS software, one (1) EQS program manual
and one (1) EQS user’s guide. Additional program manuals and user’s guides
are available for purchase.
NON-RENEWABLE
NETWORK LICENSE
Includes free updates within version 6. Does not include upgrade to next
major version.
ANNUAL RENEWABLE NETWORK LICENSE
Valid renewable license receives free upgrades to all new software
versions. Requires annual renewal.

Q – ARE THERE ANY SAMPLE SIZE LIMITATIONS IN
EQS?
The sample size restriction in EQS for Windows 5.7b is about 8000 cases when
using EQS data reader (*.ess format). However, there is no limit when reading the
raw data directly to EQS input statement. There is no real limit with
EQS for Windows 6.0 either in ess or raw data
format.
