TOPIC:
Multicollinearity, Singularity and Nonpositive Definite Problems
ERROR MESSAGE:
"The ML-GLS matrix may be positive definite. The program will not
continue"
SOLUTION:
Check to see if that data is multicollinear/singular. This might produce
the non-positive definite warning message. You can not tell if
the data is multicollinear or singular by just examining the bivariate
correlations.
For more information on multicollinearity/singularity, check Tabachnick
and Fidell's Using Multivariate Statistics (chapter 4 on data
screening). For information on positive definite matrix problems, check
Werner Wothke's chapter (Nonpositive definite matrices in structural
modeling) in Bollen and Long's Testing Structural Equation Models
(1993).

TOPIC:
MS-DOS Mode
ERROR MESSAGE
"This program is set to run in
MS-DOS mode and cannot run while
other programs are running. All other programs will close if
you choose to continue". After I continue, I get "one or more
programs did not close..." and
the execution fails.
SOLUTION
Go to "My Computer" or the folder/directory where EQS program
is located, then find eqs.exe program.
Right click on the icon --> choose properties --> click on program
tab --> advanced button at the bottom --> make sure that check
mark is next to first two options not
the third option (MS-DOS mode). If the second
option is checked, try changing it to first option (Prevent MS-DOS based programs form detecting Windows).
